Dine On A Dime: Fat Spoon

LITTLE TOKYO (CBS) — Move over Boa, Sushi Roku and Lazy Ox Canteen. Chef Michael Cardenas has a new restaurant that is also easy on the wallet.

Fat Spoon is the latest eatery opened by Cardenas and features Japanese curry and pasta. Located in the heart of Little Tokyo, it promises to get you in and out for under $15.

The menu features items like Kobe beef corn dogs and a $12 beef curry dish.

"It's a short rib curry that we pressure cooked and cooked it into the curry," Cardenas said.

The kitchen is headed up by Chef Hiroyuki Fujita. He and his staff prepare all their meals in an open kitchen where everything is fresh.

"We cook everything to order," Cardenas said.

Fat Spoon is located at 329 East First Street in Little Tokyo and is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
