Man, 23, Gets 7 Years In Prison For Taking San Bernardino Girl, 13, To Las Vegas For Sex

RIVERSIDE (AP) — A man who took a 13-year-old San Bernardino County girl to Las Vegas for sex after chatting with her through social networking sites has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison.

The U.S. attorney's office says 23-year-old Ivan Lopez was sentenced Monday, and will have to register as a sex offender after serving time.

As part of his guilty plea, Lopez admitted he picked up the girl in October 2010 while her parents were asleep, and drove her to Nevada.

After the girl was reported missing, an Amber Alert was issued for his vehicle. He was arrested after federal marshals spotted his van parked at a Nevada motel.

Lopez also faces an outstanding, unrelated charge in San Bernardino County for engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl.
