93-Year-Old Woman Pistol-Whipped During Home Invasion Robbery

NUEVO (CBS) — Authorities Saturday were on the hunt for a suspect they say pistol-whipped a 93-year-old homeowner after breaking into her home in a rural area east of Perris.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Hemet Station were called to a residence in the 31000 block of Nuevo Road about 10:10 p.m. Friday on a report of a home invasion robbery.

According to authorities, the suspect -- described as a hooded man -- broke into the home, pistol-whipped the homeowner, then knocked out and tied up her caretaker before making off with property and a car. The vehicle was apparently abandoned nearby, but the suspect remained at large.

He is between 5'10" and 6'0" and was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants and a black mask covering his face.

Both victims were hospitalized with injuries described as non-life threatening.

Anyone with more information about the incident is asked to call the Hemet Station's Detective Bureau at (951) 791-3400 or after hours at (951) 776-1099.
