Man Wanted For 1990 Killing Of Pregnant Texas Woman Arrested In Lancaster

LANCASTER (CBS) — A suspect wanted for the 1990 murder of a pregnant woman in Texas was arrested last month by Lancaster Sheriff's Detectives, it was announced Thursday.

Robert Lawrence Wilson was taken into custody shortly after 3 p.m. on August 30.

He was arrested at a house in the 43200 block of 7th St. East by gang deputy Dan Welle.

The suspect was wanted out of Montgomery County, Texas where the arrest warrant was issued. Authorities said the suspect surrendered peacefully.

Wilson is accused in the strangulation murder of Tammy Lynn Bounds, who was 18 at the time of her slaying. According to Deputy Benjamin Grubb, the victim was 7-months pregnant with her second child at the time of her death.

Bounds was last seen alive on June 21, 1990 at her apartment in Houston. Later that day, her body was found by a work crew in a wooded area near a highway in the eastern part of Montgomery County.

An hour before the discovery of her body, her then 14-month old child was found wandering alone on a residential street about five miles from where the body was discovered.

Wilson lived in the same apartment complex as the victim. Officials in Texas said the case eventually went cold. The case was  re-opened  in 2006 and officials say they made a DNA match linking Wilson to the murder.

Wilson is now on a no-bail hold at the LA County Men's Central Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 20.
