Cummings Announced As New Chief Of LA Fire Department

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Interim Chief Brian Cummings has been selected as the new chief of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa made the announcement Wednesday, but the selection must still be ratified by the city council.

KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reports, Cummings is a 32-year veteran of the LAFD.

Cummings will succeed Millage Peaks, who retired in July after more than 30 years with the department.
