Bird Flies Into Power Line Sparking 10-Acre Blaze In Lake Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE (CBS) — A low flying bird struck a power line Saturday, sparking a 10-acre vegetation fire in Lake Elsinore.

The blaze was reported about 1:48 p.m. at Keystone Drive and Cakes Place, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

Although wind driven, crews were able to contain the fire to 10 acres, authorities said.

"The cause was determined to be from a bird flying into a power line," she said.

No injuries were reported. The bird, however, died in the incident.
