5 Arrested, 43 Vehicles Impounded In Perris DUI Checkpoint

PERRIS (CBS) — Five people were arrested and 43 vehicles were impounded during a DUI checkpoint in Perris, the sheriff's department reported Sunday.

The operation was held Saturday starting at 8 p.m. at an undisclosed location. There were 1,470 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint and 107 went through a secondary check, according to the report.

Deputies conducted 18 sobriety checks and issued 32 citations for unlicensed drivers, eight for suspended licenses and four for child safety seat violations, the report said.

Checkpoints are funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
