Stabbing Reported On Metro Gold Line In Pasadena

PASADENA (CBS) — Officials say two male passengers got into a fist fight on the Metro Gold Line in Pasadena Friday night before one pulled out a knife and stabbed the other.

Police arrested a 36-year-old man for stabbing the 33-year-old victim, according to authorities.

The stabbing was reported just after 6:38 p.m., said officials.

Officials identified the suspect as Jose Paul Vasquez Flores.

When the train pulled into the Memorial Park Station, eyewitnesses pointed out the suspect to authorities.

The victim was taken to an area hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police said they recovered a bloody knife from the suspect's pants.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Captain Mike Parker credited the public with helping apprehend the suspect. "The passengers and police working together are what kept the suspect from escaping the scene and ensured the quickest medical care possible for the victim."

Flores was treated for injuries received reportedly sustained during his arrest. He is expected to be booked for assault with a deadly weapon.

His bail was set at $1 million.
