Infant Boy Thrown From Parking Structure Dies

SANTA ANA (CBS) — The 7-month-old boy reportedly thrown by his mother off a parking structure at Children's Hospital Orange County has died, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Noe Medina died Wednesday morning after being in intensive care at UCI Medical Center since Monday evening when his mother, Sonia Hermosillo allegedly threw her son off the fourth floor of the parking structure.

Hermosillo, of La Habra, originally faced one count of premeditated attempted murder and felony child abuse charges. Late Wednesday afternoon, the Orange County District Attorney's Office filed murder charges against her. Hermosillo's arraignment has been pushed to Sept. 16.

Hermosillo, 31, has not entered a plea.

Hermosillo's family says she may have been suffering from postpartum depression.

She is currently in an Orange County jail on an immigration no-bail hold because she is in the United States illegally.

A fund has been established to handle the funeral services for Noe Medina at all Wells Fargo locations. Donations should be made to account #15848975597 in the name of "Noe Medina."
