LONG BEACH (AP) — A Long Beach husband and wife have been arrested in the death of their month-old infant who authorities say showed signs of ongoing physical abuse.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram reported that Michael Cross, 42, and Melissa Swanson, 34, were arrested Friday at their home without incident. They were both charged on Tuesday. Cross also was charged with possession of narcotics for allegedly having cocaine.

Long Beach police spokeswoman Lisa Massacani says Michaela Cross was pronounced dead by paramedics at the family’s home last Thursday.

Massacani says a coroner’s autopsy confirmed investigators’ suspicions the death was not accidental. She says the injuries were consistent with blunt-force trauma.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department website says Michael Cross is being held on $1 million bail, Swanson is being held on $100,000 bail.

I dont get it. In this day and age, there is no excuse for what they did! Clearly they had no desire to have a child, so why didnt they use birth control? Or give it up for adoption? Take that baby to a fire station? There were so many things they could have done to prevent this! They deserve to spend the rest of their lives in prison!

CC, i agree with you that they had options, however, i disagree that they should spend the rest of their lives in prison on your, my and other taxpayers account….they should be subjected to the same blaunt force trauma…..god have mercy on them….

Hey Mr. Taxpayer, how about the Justice system…you know…innocent until PROVEN guilty! Why are you the lone citizen that can pick and choose which laws or rights to uphold? Not only are you trying these people on the merit of this article, which by the way isn’t completely accurate, but you have the nerve to play God and then say “God have mercy on them!” What about their story? What about that baby? What about the families of these people? How insensitive of you!

This is what is wrong with America! I don’t know these people, but–I can however–say that condemning them before they go to trial or before all of the evidence has shown without a doubt that these people are actually guilty of murder is just wrong. Until the investigation is complete, no one will know exactly what happened.

    God bless!

It could even be more advisable in case you advise all of your close friends to take bath towels, seats, beach comforters and so forth. Which means you won’t find yourself carrying as well as offering these things …skimboards
