Fernando Award Recipient, Rafer Johnson, Visits KCAL 9

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — The recent recipient of the Fernando Award visited the KCAL 9 studios Tuesday.

Rafer Johnson is the 52nd recipient of the award. It is given to people who have demonstrated a lifetime of volunteering in the community. He was nominated by the non-profit organization New Directions For Youth, which provides direct services and programs to at-risk youth and families.

Johnson has also been involved with the Southern California Special Olympics for 52 years, serving on the International Board of Directors, as National Head Coach, and on the California Special Olympics Board of Directors.
