Long Beach Police Release Booking Photo Of Suspected Cat Burglar

LONG BEACH (CBS) — Long Beach police released the booking photo of a man suspected in several cat burglaries in Belmont Shore and Belmont Heights in hopes of tying him to other crimes.

Dewayne Maris, 38, of Long Beach, was arrested April 21 in the 4000 block of Ocean Boulevard about 1:45 a.m. and is suspected in a string of burglaries dating back to July 2010, Long Beach police said.

Maris has been charged with three counts of burglary and one of assault, for allegedly roughing up someone who caught him in the act, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Detectives believe Maris burglarized other homes but that the victims never reported it. Anyone who believes Maris may have broken into his or her home was urged call Detective Louie Galvan at (562) 570-6407.
