3 Dead, 2 Critically Injured When Car Overturns In Buena Park

BUENA PARK (CBS) - Three women died and two others were critically injured when a vehicle overturned and burst into flames Monday night off the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Buena Park.

The women were exiting the freeway on Beach Boulevard about 10:20 p.m. when the vehicle overturned on the off-ramp, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Marc Stone said.

The coroner has identified the victims as Sara Flores, 40, Angela Prado, 49, and Elda Nava-Mayo, 24. All three women were from Downey and were pronounced dead at the scene, Stone said.

Two other women, the driver and a 16-year-old girl, were taken to UCI Medical Center in critical condition.

All five women had attended a sermon of the Hispanic Ministry at the Crystal Cathedral prior to the accident.

The California Highway Patrol does not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
