Man, 23, Dies While Hiking Near Eaton Canyon Waterfall

PASADENA (CBS) — Authorities say a 23-year-old man has died after falling from a cliff while hiking on a trail above Pasadena.

Los Angeles County Fire responded to the incident at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Eaton Canyon near the waterfall. Police confirmed a second victim, identified only as a female, suffered minor injuries.

The death at the popular trail follows a series of injuries, rescues and lift outs this week, according to Altadena watch commander Sgt. Herman. Another hiker died last Sunday after falling near one of the trail's waterfalls.

The trail, which has three waterfalls, is treacherous and authorities are urging people to exercise caution.

Ann Sterling, reporting for CBS2, said the coroner has identified the dead man as John Jutiyasantayanon of Montclair.
