Former Deputy Accused Of Sex With Girl In More Trouble Over Facebook Post

SAN BERNARDINO (CBS) — Posting on Facebook has gotten one sheriff's deputy facing charges he had sex with a teenage girl in even bigger trouble.

Former San Bernardino Deputy Nathan Gastineau, 31, posted a message on Facebook, in what sounded like a call to arms.

"This is your Admiral. I know there've been a lot of rumors going around…about the destruction that's been visited on my life," a portion of Gastineau's post read. "War is our imperative. And if right now victory seems like an impossibility then we have something else to reach for: revenge, payback."

Gastineau insisted the posting wasn't a threat, but the judge disagreed and raised his bail from $150,000 to $350,000. Gastineau was immediately handcuffed and taken to jail, but was released on bond at about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

"I think the court is right, that this could incite violence or at least possibly endanger the victim," the victim's attorney Gloria Allred said. "We don't ever want an alleged victim to be in fear."

The victim was a teenage Explorer in a program led by Gastineau.

Investigators say they have seized a video that clearly shows Gastineau having sex with the girl. Gastineau's supporters say Gastineau spurned the girl and that the Facebook was misconstrued.
