Ventura County Fair Opens Wednesday

VENTURA (CBS) — It is dubbed the "Bounty of the County" and on Wednesday, the Ventura County Fair opens!

"This fair is awesome because you really get that hometown feeling of Ventura County and you're right next to the ocean so the weather is always excellent," Fillmore resident Suzi Ortiz told Amy Johnson, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9.

Crews are working round-the-clock setting up for the fair. From rides, to games and of course, food, there's a lot to prepare for.

And what's a fair without the animals? They're getting ready too and you'll get to meet some new four-legged friends, including the Guernsey Goats.

But they're not the only new friends you'll meet… this year, there will be a new feature – a chance to interact with butterflies.

"The theme is the 'Bounty of the County' and it's the best of everything Ventura County has to offer," Fair Marketing Director James Lockwood said.

The fair opens at 11 a.m. Wednesday and runs through August 13. For more information, click here.
