Crow Auctions Off Prized Mercedes Benz To Raise Money For Joplin Tornado Victims

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow is auctioning off her '59 Mercedes Benz Roadster to raise money for the victims of a devastating tornado in Joplin, Missouri.

"We see so many of these communities in the Midwest hit by these tornadoes," Crow said. "Although it's, for a moment, tragic on the news we do forget about it. And the people of Joplin are living with it every day."

The Grammy-winner is trying to raise money to rebuild schools in Joplin, which is still recovering after being torn apart by a tornado last May.

The Roadster, which Crow describes as her "dream car", hasn't inspired any of her songs but it may inspire someone to give a little extra to help the people of Joplin.
