City Council Committee To Consider Raising Sanitation Rates
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Los Angeles City Council committee delayed a vote Tuesday on whether residents should pay higher utility bills.
The committee is still expected to look at a proposal that raise sanitation rates 40 percent over the next five years.
The bill for an average family would rise from about $30 to nearly $42.
The city says it needs the extra money to modernize and maintain its aging sewer system.
