SANTA ANA (CBS) — A murder trial in an Orange County courtroom took a dramatic turn on Wednesday after the defendant changed his plea to guilty right in the middle of the hearing.

Christian Gonzalez, 25, was on trial for the murder of his infant daughter, whom prosecutors said he threw on a couch and shook her to death after growing frustrated with her crying.

“After an hour of cross-examination during a line of question about having told the officers he had shaken his 2-month-old, he said ‘I’d like to talk to my attorney’,” said Orange County prosecutor Steve McGreevy

Gonzalez was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
