De La Rosa, Guerra Lead Dodgers Past Rockies 8-5

(CBS) -- The few remaining of the announced crowd of 28, 860 watched Javy Guerra save the Dodgers once again.

The rookie converted his eighth save as the Rockies nearly came back from an 8-1 ninth inning deficit.

Guerra entered with the Dodgers holding on to an 8-5 lead and just one out and the bases loaded, but was able to get Troy Tulowitzski to pop out and Seth Smith to ground out.

Rookie Rubby De La Rosa (4-4) struck out five, while allowing one run in six innings and Andre Ethier slammed his 10th homer of the season.

De La Rosa threw 26 pitches that were clocked at 98 mph or faster, including hitting 100 mph four times.

He now has posted an ERA of just 2.03 over his last five starts.

Aaron Miles doubled home Rafael Furcal to tie the game at one in the third inning and then Ethier followed up with a two-run shot off Rockies pitcher Juan Nicasio.

Kenley Jansen picked up his 100th career strikeout while working a perfect eighth inning  and has now pitched 15 consecutive scoreless innings.

Hong-Chih Kuo's struggles returned in the ninth inning for Los Angeles, Kuo walked two more batters and has now walked six batters in his last 1 1/3.
