Family Of Missing College Student, 18, Asks For Public's Help

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The family of an 18-year-old missing college student asked for the public's help Wednesday to help find their kin.

Ashley Barraza was last seen by family Monday morning after she was dropped off at a Carl's Jr near East Los Angeles College. She never made it to her class.

Detectives have interviewed a man she met online. He is described as a student at another college who met Ashley at the fast food restaurant.

He says the two spent the day together before he drove her to Garvey and Garfield Avenues in Monterey Park to drop her off at a friend's house. He drove a two-door red 1995 Honda Civic with the license plate 3MRC318.

Barraza is Latino, 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs 190 pounds. She was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jean shorts, black tennis shoes and was carrying a green backpack.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts was asked to call Detective Kristin Merrill at (213) 996-1800.
