CBS2/KCAL9 Leyla Gulen Reporting:

1:20 P.M. UPDATE
You're all set for your Monday morning commute! The I-405 is completely open in both directions, including all ramps and connectors. Traffic is flowing smoothly. Just watch out for a new crash SB 405 before Olympic...taxi vs. the center divider.

Also, the Mulholland Bridge is expected to re-open at 1:30p...one lane for each direction. Do expect delays during your morning and afternoon commutes.

Drive Safe Everyone!

12:30 P.M. UPDATE
In my last report at 11:59a on CBS2 we watched the first cars bolting down the NB 405 from the 10 freeway into the Sepulveda Pass! CalTrans crews continue to pick up cones and re-open all roadways since the freeway's closure approximately 36 hours ago.

In addition, the SB 405 and all connectors, except for the EB 10 to NB 405, have now re-opened, including all on-ramps.

Looks like you're all set for your Monday morning commute!

I'll be back with an update on CBS2 at 12:59p!

11:30 A.M. UPDATE
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa just held a press conference moments ago. In his words, "Mission accomplished." It is official...the I-405 is scheduled to re-open at 11:30a.

Right now, CHP and emergency crews, along with CalTrans have traveled along the northbound portion of the freeway checking for any possible debris in lanes. Another set of emergency crews are getting ready to comb the southbound lanes momentarily. They are now positioned just north of the 101 freeway.

So far, the NB and SB offramps to the I-405 within the closure have already opened up.

Keep it tuned to CBS2 for another traffic report at 11:59a!

10:15 A.M. UPDATE
In my last report at 9:59a on CBS2, I announced that CalTrans will be holding a press conference at 10:30a...they say they expect to re-open the I-405 sometime between 11a and 3p!

Keep it tuned to CBS2 for the LIVE press conference...we'll bring it to you as soon as it happens.

Don't forget to join me for my top of the hour update at 10:59a!

9:10 A.M. UPDATE
It's official, CalTrans says that the I-405 is scheduled to start re-opening at 11a...a full re-opening is expected by 3p! Crews will continue to sweep up dirt and debris out of lanes throughout the morning.

Conditions still look clear throughout LA County, but there is a crash on the WB 134 to the SB 5, blocking the transition road. Use San Fernando Rd. as an alternate.

Noticing just a little bit of traffic on PCH near Topanga Canyon Rd. Otherwise, conditions look great across the Southland!

Keep it on CBS2 for my next report at 9:59a!

8:30 A.M. UPDATE
Just 21 hours left until the scheduled re-opening of the I-405! Since my last report at 7:55a on CBS2, it looks like crews are now sweeping up the dirt that was spread across the freeway, which acted like a cushion for the falling debris. I think I can even see the lines on the road.

Crews continue to make quick work of the Mulholland Bridge demolition. The second of two pillars is still awaiting its own demolition.

Speeds remain normal on freeways near the I-405. Streets are looking pretty clear, too.

A crash in Riverside on the WB 60 at Pedley is all clear. Everyone has been doing great traveling close when possible - myself included!

Stay tuned for my next update on CBS2 at 9a!

7:30 A.M. UPDATE
Good morning everyone! Well, we're less than a day away from the scheduled re-opening of the I-405! In my last report at 6:59a on CBS2, we saw the second of two pillars down on the ground ready to be split into smaller pieces and sent on its way. The Mulholland Bridge looks nothing like it did yesterday when crews were still demolishing the southern side. From my vantage point it looks nearly ready for traffic tomorrow morning. Crews have did a lot of clean-up overnight, as well. Remember, because this bridge is now half it's width, those using it as a short cut to get to the I-405 or to travel onto either side of the canyon, there will be expected congestion, so plan ahead.

As for conditions at this early hour, looking light throughout the San Fernando Valley. Streets remain quiet.
We did have a Sig Alert cancel on the SB 710 at Long Beach Blvd. We do have an overturned SUV on the WB 60 before Pedley that flipped off the freeway. CHP is enroute and there may be lane blockages.

I'll be giving you another update between 7:51a & 7:58a on CBS2 during CBS Sunday Morning!
