Missing Indian Student, 15, Found Safe In Central Calif.

MERCED, Calif. (CBS) —A 15-year-old Indian student, who disappeared on a trip to Los Angeles, was found safe in Central California, LAPD officials said.

Lovedeep Singh, who was part of an educational tour group visiting LA, went missing on June 23. He was last seen near the Radisson Hotel in Exposition Park near USC at 8:30 a.m.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the boy was found in good condition Wednesday in Merced, with no signs of foul play.

"He may have accidentally become separated from his group and tried on his own to reconnect with them," LAPD officials said in a press release Friday.

The Department of Children and Family Services have taken Singh into custody while they arrange for his return to India.

Merced County sheriff's officials were not releasing details on how Singh was found. They will release more information at a 3:30 p.m. news conference.
