Ex-Convict Pleads Not Guilty To Murdering Escort In His Apartment

RIVERSIDE (CBS) — An ex-convict accused of killing an escort in his Riverside apartment pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder.

Drake Von Walker, 48, could face 25 years to life in prison if convicted in the June 24 death of Maisha Shante Walters.

Walker is being held without bail at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.

Walker appeared before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Richard T. Fields, who set a felony settlement conference in the case for July 21.

According to authorities, Walker walked into the police department's Magnolia Station on the afternoon of June 24th and reported a prostitute dead in his residence in the 7700 block of Magnolia Avenue.

Officers went to the apartment and discovered Walters' body. The circumstances of her death were not disclosed.

Walker was immediately arrested.

Walker has one felony conviction, but its nature wasn't clear.
