Customer Caught On Tape Could Be Killer Of Marijuana Distributor

LONG BEACH (CBS) — Surveillance video was released Monday showing a possible suspect in the shooting death of a suspected marijuana distributor whose body was found in a Long Beach alley.

The suspect was caught on video leaving a convenience store in a late-model Toyota 4Runner. Police say a receipt for a purchase made at the store in the Los Angeles/Beverly Hills-adjacent area was found inside the victim's residence.

The man behind the wheel of the black, four-door SUV was wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants, and the video was recorded on the same day -- March 24 -- that the body of 29-year-old Philip Victor Williamson of Los Angeles was found dead in an alley near the 1500 block of Pine Avenue.

Police believe Williamson delivered cannibis grown in Northern California to medical marijuana dispensaries in Southern California.

Williamson, a former Chico resident, may have been in or around Chico about the time of his death, according to Long Beach detectives, who have traveled to the Butte County city to hand out fliers in an effort to piece together what happened to him.

Anyone with information about the case can call Detective Donald Goodman at (562) 570-7244.
