Serial Rapist Targets Victims At Hansen Dam Park

PACOIMA (CBS) — Police are on the hunt for a suspect in a sexual assault at a popular Southern California park.

Authorities say a possible serial rapist has been targeting victims at Hansen Dam Park in the San Fernando Valley. Police say the latest attack occurred on June 30 around 9:45 p.m. when the victim was walking on the a bike path.

"The suspect grabbed her and forced her into an isolated area and sexually assaulted her," Commanding Officer Joseph Hiltner said.

The suspect is believed to be a Hispanic man between 23 and 25-years-old, around 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

"The suspect has a mole on his right cheek . .  he has thick lips and a thin mustache and protruding ears," Officer Hiltner said. Authorities said the suspect also has thick eyebrows and freckles on his cheeks.

The suspect was wearing a navy blue or black t-shirt, black sweatpants and black shoes at the time of the assault, according to officials.

Police are warning visitors to be mindful of their surroundings. They believe he could also be responsible to two attempted rapes in 2008.
