1 Dead, 7 Missing After Fishing Boat Capsizes

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Rescue crews Tuesday will continue searching for seven missing men who were aboard a boat that capsized in the Gulf of California.

One person was killed Sunday morning when a chartered fishing boat carrying 27 Americans capsized in a storm 60 miles south of San Felipe.

The "Erik" has been operating on the Gulf of California since 1989. The owners, Baja Sportfishing, released a statement:

"We have been working with Mexican Navy authorities and the U.S. Coast Guard in the search and rescue. Right now our main concern is making sure that everyone is accounted for."

So far, 19 tourists and 16 crew members have been rescued by officials or other fishing boats, according to the Associated Press.

According to the company's website, all trips are canceled until further notice.

The California Secretary of State website says Baja Sportfishing's business license has been suspended.
