LONG BEACH (CBS) — You have heard of Route 66, but what about Route 6? A travel writer is taking the road less traveled this summer.

Malerie Yolen-Cohen left Massachusetts on May 20 with the goal of driving all 3,600 miles of Historic Route 6, which stretches from Cape Cod to Long Beach.Yolen-Cohen made it to Lancaster Wednesday before heading into the final stretch.READ MORE: Suspect Shot, Wounded By Deputies During Standoff; Climbs Onto Roof Of Walnut Park Home
She said it took her six months to plan the trip, which cost her around $5,000. She said it was all worth it.
