Panorama City Home Goes Up In Flames After Fiery Crash

PANORAMA CITY (CBS) — Police Saturday were looking for an alleged drunken driver who slammed a vehicle into a Panorama City home, setting both ablaze.

The fiery crash was reported about 4:10 a.m. in the 7800 block of Ranchito Avenue near Woodman Avenue, said Los Angeles police Sgt. David Mascarenas of the Valley Traffic Division.

"It (the car) struck something inside the house. The vehicle melted inside the house. The house caught on fire," Mascarenas said.

The police sergeant said at least two rooms in the home were on fire, adding that the homeowners were able to get out of the house unharmed.

Mascarenas said the driver of the 1988 Oldsmobile sedan was also unharmed and fled the scene. He had no description of the motorist.

"According to my officers, nobody made contact with the suspect," Mascarenas said.
