Man Fatally Shot While Riding Skateboard

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A 20-year-old man was shot to death while riding a skateboard on the sidewalk early Sunday morning.

Ulises Mendoza was riding his skateboard at 2:15 a.m. on Denker Avenue just north of 219th Street when he was fatally shot.

Some residents in the area reported hearing at least one gunshot, but did not see any suspects or suspect vehicle. Detectives have very little information to go on and are asking for the public's help to solve this crime.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel treated Mendoza at the scene and transported him to a local hospital. Mendoza died a short time later.

Anyone with information related to this murder is asked to contact Harbor Area Homicide at (310) 726-7887 or (310) 726-7880. During non-business hours or on weekends, tips can be left at 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
