Kids Of Beaten Giants Fan Speak Out For 1st Time
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The children of beaten San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow are speaking out for the first time. For 12-year-old Tyler and Tabitha, 8, it's going to be a sad and emotional Father's Day as Stow remains in a coma.
"I'm just accepting it the way it is instead of trying to change what really is happening," Tyler said.
Stow's children admit this will be a challenging weekend as they continue to cope with the reality that life without their dad as they know him just isn't the same.
"I can't really judge other dads or anything… but he was pretty special," Tyler said. "I spent a lot of time with him so it's like completely different not going with him every weekend or every Thursday."
Bryan's ex-wife and mother of Stow's two kids, Jackie Kain, has taken the kids to visit their father twice.
"The first visit was amazing. Bryan's eye was open and he was actually tracking the kids when they would move around the room. That made the kids extremely happy," Kain said on Stow's support Web site.
On Thursday, Stow's family updated the site dedicated to him saying doctors are still adjusting his seizure medications. They say that, "if he hears us, he knows that this Father's Day is approaching… Bryan will make it through and we believe his children are his motivation."
The Giants fan was brutally beaten by two men at the Dodgers home open on March 31.
The LAPD has named one suspect, Giovanni Ramirez, who's in custody on unrelated charges.
A parole hearing for Ramirez is scheduled for Monday. He has not yet been charged in connection with Stow's beating.
