Fatal Semi Accident Closes All Lanes Of NB 101 Freeway In Camarillo


CAMARILLO (CBS) — The 101 Freeway in Camarillo was shut down early Wednesday morning after an accident involving a semi truck that killed one person.

The accident happened just after midnight when California Highway Patrol officials believe the truck lost its brakes going down the Conejo Grade and hit a truck on the northbound 101 at Camarillo Springs Road. CHP officials said the driver of the semi was killed and three others injured. Several other vehicles were also involved in the crash.

Northbound lanes of the Ventura Freeway were closed between Camarillo Springs Road and Wendy Drive in Newbury Park.

CHP officials recommended drivers take the westbound 23 Freeway to the 118 Freeway as an alternate.

The CHP reopened two lanes around 6:45 a.m. Officials reopened all northbound 101 lanes around 8 a.m. after an investigation was completed.
