LOS ANGELES (AP) — Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has been mentioned as a potential Republican presidential candidate, is accusing the Obama administration of transforming abortion into a U.S. export and breaking faith with the nation’s founding principles by supporting taxpayer-funded embryonic stem cell research.

Perry, a prominent conservative long at odds with President Barack Obama’s stand on reproductive rights and stem cell research, spoke Sunday to a mostly Hispanic crowd of about 5,000 at a Los Angeles anti-abortion rally.

Perry said the direction of stem cell research under the Obama administration was “turning the remains of unborn children into nothing more than raw material.”

The governor never mentioned the presidential election, but talk about his possible candidacy has increased since two of his former political advisers recently fled Newt Gingrich’s troubled campaign.

Perry needs to stay in his 18th Century, backwards thinking state of Texas and leave national politics alone. Abortion is legal in the country. The majority of Americans support it. If you don’t agree with Abortion….then don’t have one!! It’s called”‘Pro-Choice”.

    1. Bob says:

Just because something is legal, doesnt make it right! Just because something can be done, doesnt mean it should be done! Murdering someone just for their faith, just like HILER did was “legal,” but did that make it right? Murdering somoene just for hteir faith like China, and the Sudan does is “legal” in that country, but does it make it right?

      1. Abortion Sucks! says:

Exactly, Bob! That’s the problem with this country and our peoples’ way of thinking: if it’s legal then it must be morally and ethically right. Boy, are we WAY off as humans. I’ll repeat what you’ve already said: JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE DOESN’T MEAN IT SHOULD BE DONE!

      2. lydia says:

Seperation of Church and State isnt in the Constituiton, and what that statement meant is that the Church of England, which was a gov’t, wasnt allowed to come in and tell another country what to do, Thats TOTALLY different than how it is used today.

    2. Ray says:

You are right Dee Jae on one point Abortions are legal but I don’t to have to pay for them for anyone.

  2. Kenmandu says:

Stem cells are the greatest advance in medicine this century, fools like this want to impose their misguided beliefs to stiopit so that they can enrage their partisan followers rather than suggesting ideas that might help move the USA in a better direction. Texas has a bad rep when it comes to up-to-date thinking an electing this carnival barker show it hasn’t made much poegress

    1. Abortion Sucks! says:

Misguided beliefs? You know, people are allowed to think abortion is wrong without forming that opinion based on religious beliefs. I’m sure there are plenty of non-believing people who think abortion is murder. Remember one thing: at one point in history those “experts” thought heroin was good medicine. Don’t be so narrow-minded, Kenmandu.

  3. Lorraine says:

Shyt! I thought TX would have seceded by now and we’d have leard the last from them; no such luck. Wake up, women! Goober Law, Sharia Law = same thing, different deities; bottom line, just another old boys’ club. Pathetic.

    1. Abortion Sucks! says:

Huh? I didn’t think Sharia Law had anything to do with abortion and a political campaign.

      1. Lorraine says:

If you are trying to keep someone from having an abortion by legislating against it, that’s the same as my telling you that you HAVE to have one. You can pop out as many kids as you want, and I might think you’re a dog in heat with no self-control, but I won’t deny your right to have all the children you want. You don’t even know me, so if I choose to have an abortion, how does that affect you? Sharia law is nothing more than you want for women over here. Republicans have had majorities and did nothing about Roe vs. Wade. They just use the issue to get votes from a lot of one-issue cretins like you who care nothing about the economy, foreign affairs or anything else. You’re being played and you don’t even know it..

  4. Ester says:

How pathetic that a backward idiot even gets newspaper space. He should be in the comics rather than in the serious stuff. It enrages me that this kind of thinking is still prevalent and getting attention. Dark ages…

    1. Abortion Sucks! says:

It’s dark ages to think abortion is wrong? You confuse me…. I thought we lived in a free-thinking society. You can think abortion is a woman’s choice without me calling you a murderer and Perry can think abortion is wrong without being called a backward idiot in the dark ages. You people….

  5. Angelina says:

Old news the government should stop telling women what to do with their bodies this not there place they want women to have babies then let the government educate them give and free housing there are lot single mothers out there that need help…PRO- CHOICE IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO…

    1. Abortion Sucks! says:

Pro-Choice is the only way to go? Are you THAT narrow-minded? Whatever happened to BIRTH CONTROL??? Isn’t that a choice too? Your type scares me…

  6. Boopie says:

This man is an anti-science idiot, another know nothing Texan who is a great danger to our doctrine of separation of church and state.. Stem cell research holds the greatest hope for curing many illnesses. How can anyone sound of mind oppose it? Let him practice his superstitious beliefs, stewing in his own ignorance, and not inflict his barbaric ideas on the rest of ys.

    1. Bob says:

Seperation of Church and State isnt in the Constituiton, and what that statement meant is that the Church of England, which was a gov’t, wasnt allowed to come in and tell another country what to do, Thats TOTALLY different than how it is used today.

      1. Abortion Sucks! says:

Thank you, Bob, thank you! It’s time the educated start teaching the idiots what that term really means. I’m sick of people using it in a way that only makes them look stupid. I’m losing hope in our intellect as humans….

@ Boopie – I suggest you do more research on that “separation of church and state” term you so freely threw out there, ’cause you are SOOOOO way off on what it means. They have this thing now called Google. Try it.

  7. Mikey says:

“Bravo”??? For what? This backwoods phony yahoo hick is a total jack off. And would somebody please tell these Bible Belt Christian Freaks that abortion is and has been legal in this country for will over the past 40 years.

    1. Bob says:

BE careful about attacking Christians, we may turn on you for BLASPHEMY just like Muslims do! Christians have the right to freedom of religion and expression, just like you do! ITS A FREE COUNTRY PAL!

FYI: Geoege Washington, one of the founders of this country was a Christain!

      1. AJ Morgan says:

Why? You don;t seem to have aa problem attacking attackiong aa woman’s right to abort something she doesn’t want?. All you believers in mythological beings are the same – PATHETIC aand always trying to force YOUR views on others.

      2. Abortion Sucks! says:

@ AJ Morgan – Let me get this right…. If we have a belief in something that you don’t believe in and we exercise our right to vote for laws that support our beliefs, then we’re forcing our beliefs on you? But if you, a non-believer, votes for laws that support your beliefs or nonbeliefs, then you’re NOT forcing your beliefs on us? I don’t get it. Why is my exercising my right to vote forcing my beliefs on you but it’s not vice versa? Sounds a little hypocritical to me.

  8. Enrique says:

Here in California we’re going to be paying $6 billion for Prop 71, which backed embryonic stem cell research. What did we get for this? Any cures? Treatments? Most medical advances have come through adult stem cells not embryonic stem cells. Prop 71 was a total waste.

As for life, per Gallup, 61% of Americans believe abortion should be illegal in all or most cases.

    1. Lorraine says:

If men carried the babies, abortion would be a sacrament.

…and there’d be cool power tools for it, too!

      1. Abortion Sucks! says:

        You’re disgusting and amoral, Lorraine.

  9. calman says:

Get back to TX and stay in your cave!
Keep your narrow belief for yourself.

    1. Abortion Sucks! says:

Well, I think your belief is narrow. So who’s right?

  10. Christine says:

Its a shame that the media and schools dont show and teach just what goes on in an abortion with how the babies are screaming in pain when the DR. PULLS APART His/her LIMBS to get the LIVE baby out of the womb, or how they poke a hole in the babies head and SUCK THE BRAIN OUT to KILL the baby….and they dont show the aftermath of guilt that the mother feels, for the rest of her life, because she then realises what she did to her CHILD!

Folks, please wake up! The truth isnt being told about abortion.

    1. Lorraine says:

You’re talking about late-term abortions. They are the exception rather than the norm, but it’s your chance to be as lurid as you want to be.. There’s a lot of pain in childbirth and there’s an 18-year obligation to take care of a child that a woman may not want to have. You don’t care what happens after that baby is born so you don’t concern yourselves with the quality of that life you so zealousy protect until it pops out of the womb. Why do you care about someone else’s imagined guilt? Or are you sharing your experience? Go work in an ER and see the pain and torture that an unwanted and unloved child endures, or read the news and see how many never see their 5th birthday.

Please wake up to the real world.

      1. John says:

        Much respect Lorraine.

      2. John says:

That’s the whole picture and you got to the heart of the matter.

      3. wlt says:

        Right on Lorraine.

      4. Abortion Sucks! says:

Have these women who DON’T want babies ever hear of ADOPTION? Have you ever seen those waiting lists for very good and loving couples just waiting for a child to bless their home? Babies are not burdens. That’s something we as adults do to them- make them burdens. It’s very simple these days to give up a precious child. You don’t even have to contact a lawyer, or the authorities, or leave your name. So a woman has to carry a child for 9 months? So what?! Those 9 months could enrich the lives of a good family forever. Abortion is NOT the only choice she has, despite what fools like you try to trick the world into thinking.

    2. Abortion Sucks! says:

I completely agree with you, Christine. I once watched an abortion video on YouTube and the images I saw tormented my mind for weeks. It’s a terrible, murderous tool substituted for using birth control and good judgment.

      1. wlt says:

Kramer,Baugh and Stewart.Get your Rettarrdd family and friends out of here.

      2. wlt says:

        “Abortion Sucks!”
The likes of you should know your place in this world.Do try and not be a nuisance.

  11. Ray says:

    1. Lorraine says:

We all know how good most men are when it comes to birth control, Ray; get real. The people are divided because of those who want to legislate their beliefs and morals upon those who are not of the same mindset. I favor a woman’s right to an abortion, but I don’t try to legislate how many children you decide to have; i. e.; China. That’s a big difference from what the top Goober in Texas has in mind.

      1. Abortion Sucks! says:

@ Lorraine – So a person supports a law or politician who shares their belief system and they’re forcing those beliefs and morals on you? Then what’s it called when you do the same thing for your beliefs? Gimme a break! I have the right to vote that abortion is wrong and you have the right to vote for a woman’s choice. That’s called living in America, idiot! Your opinions on the matter border on hypocritical and paranoid.

  12. Debbie says:

Let Perry stay in Texas and secede from the USA like he said he wanted to do. I don’t want religion in my government and I don’t want government in my religion.

  13. Borsia says:

Sadly the right to life crowd doesn’t understand the most basic science or methodology. Stem cell are taken from fertility clinics performing in vitro fertilization. Giving special medication to the woman that results in the development, growth, and maturation of eggs in a woman’s ovaries.
Extracting perhaps 24 mature mature ova (aka oocytes) from the woman’s ovaries.
Fertilizing the ova with sperm, typically from her husband or an anonymous donor.
Placing the embryos in a special incubator which encourages their growth.
Selecting two to four healthy-looking embryos and implanting them in the woman’s uterus.
Disposing of the remaining 20 or so surplus embryos in some manner.
Note the last sentence. These extra embryos are never going to be developed into a fetus let alone a child. They can go to one of 2 places; 1 the trash incinerator, or 2; be used for research where they might indirectly become part of a living being.

  15. carmel says:

you know what..abortion sucks, bob and ray, roe v wade makes abortion legal
despite what you may ethically or morally believe. that is your choice. so when do ya,ll expect to become pregnant? any time soon. cause i sure would love to see your convictions put to the test. so when can we expect your due date? how about this, instead of harrassing a woman about her RIGHT to choose, why don’t you put all this energy into saving all those babies that are born every day to people who abuse them. read the news. every single day children are abused by not just strangers , but by family members. sexual abuse, murder, beatings..hell if CASEY ANTHONY had gotten an abortion, like she had wanted
to but her parents told her it was wrong, she would not now be on trial for murdering her own daughter. if you are serious aboutypour convictions…why are you not out there saving the children that are already here. iit is a whole lot easier to ‘talk the talk’ but i do not hear you ‘walking the walk’. it is harder to live your conviction then it is to talk the conviction. every single day a children disappear, is sexually assulted, or beaten to death. EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! why are you not out there saving them??? lastly..i am a woman with children and i believe in MY right to choose. o and i also work and pay taxes. o and ray…i personally do NOT believe in war. i find it MORALLY and ETHICALLY WRONG.
    yet there go my taxes.

  16. Michael Lohr says:

The fact is the Bible says nothing against abortion. Not even one passage directly applies to this issue. However the question whether fetal rights should be the same as a mothers rights is clearly defined.
    Exodus 21:22
Note this passage has been modified since the 1990s. Instead of the word miscarraiged, the word premature birth has been inserted.
It is clearly defined that the fetus does not have the dsame rights as an living human being.

  17. Dev says:

Why is it that those with the loudest voices against abortion are MEN?? Hmmmmmmmm . . . . .

  18. Hank says:

Will any of the Anti-Abortionists Nationwide, step up to the Plate & go to the nearest Child-Support Office & have them Deduct just $50 a Month of your HARD earned money? so that these selfish little girls can continue to become MOTHERS before they become WOMEN! also, PARENTS who have Children who are pregnant & living under their Roof should pay Child-Support too! it takes a Village doesn’t it?& before the State DISHES OUT any Welfare Money, they should perform DNA tests to confirm who the actual Parents are! Thus Justifying the HANDOUT !!
