Greater-Alarm Fire Damages 2 Junkyards In Sun Valley

SUN VALLEY (CBS) — A fire that raged through two adjoining auto junkyards in the Sun Valley-area caused moderate damage, but no injuries were reported.

The blaze was reported at 10:15 p.m. Saturday in the 9700 block of North Glenoaks Boulevard.

Fire Department Spokesman Matt Spence said nearly 100 firefighters from 11 companies were called in to fight the greater-alarm fire, which took more than hour to be knocked down.

The fire began inside Parts Depot, but quickly spread to an adjacent junkyard property, Spence said.

An investigation was underway to determine the cause of the blaze, Spence said. No damage estimate was immediately available.
