Lohan's GPS Monitor Malfunctions

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Lindsay Lohan's house-arrest electronic monitoring system went off on Tuesday, leading probation officials to visit her Venice townhouse, but it may have malfunctioned.

When the probation officials visited her home, they found that she was watching television, reading scripts and posing for tabloid photographs on her rooftop patio, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Lohan is serving about 35 days under house detention, instead of spending time in jail, after her conviction for shoplifting a necklace from a Venice jewelry store in January.

She is required to wear an ankle monitoring device that randomly checks via a base unit that she is within the premises of her home. Sources said that her monitoring unit went off on Tuesday, although it's unclear why that happened.
