Search Team Recovers Body Of Dad, 50, Who Died In Lake Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE (CBS)  — The body of a 50-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man -- the subject of a three-day search -- was recovered Wednesday in Lake Elsinore, according to the county coroner's office.

Gamaliel Balagtas Nunez died Sunday afternoon after the wind capsized a boat from which he was fishing with his wife and two sons.

A search team found the body around 10:30 a.m. using sonar to pinpoint the location, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Nunez , his wife and two sons were in a 12-foot boat that started taking on water and overturned around 1:30 p.m. Sunday amid winds gusting to about 40 mph, witnesses told deputies.

All four started swimming for shore. Another boater rescued the woman and sons but the man disappeared under water, Sgt. Raymond Nava said.

Authorities were notified of the emergency at 1:48 p.m., and the search began for Nunez.

The boat flipped about 150 yards southeast of the 32000 block of Riverside Drive, according to the coroner's office.
