Irvine Man Pleads Not Guilty In Wreck That Killed Girl, 14
SANTA ANA (AP) — An Orange County man has pleaded not guilty to charges of driving drunk and causing an accident that killed a 14-year-old girl.
Austin Jeffery Farley entered the plea Wednesday on felony charges of murder and driving under the influence of alcohol in the crash early Sunday.
The 26-year-old Irvine man pleaded guilty in 2009 to misdemeanor drunken driving.
Prosecutors allege he made a left-hand turn against a red arrow and crashed into a sedan carrying four teenage girls who were being driven home from a birthday party by a parent.
Ashton Sweet died Tuesday of her injuries.
Another teen was severely injured but is expected to survive.
Authorities say that Farley had a blood-alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit after the crash.
