Firefighters Knock Down Blaze At Downtown Business

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A fire gutted a downtown business and spread to a second building before firefighters put it out.

The blaze started at a warehouse on East 10th Street and Central Avenue shortly after 1:25 a.m., according to authorities.

It took more than 100 Los Angeles firefighters more than an hour to knock it down, authorities said.

Fire spokesman Erik Scott said arriving crews reported the fire burning outside and behind the buildings.

It moved into a tall warehouse and spread to an adjacent 50-by-100 foot building that shared a wall, Scott said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
