LOS ANGELES (CBS) — CBS2 and KCAL9 asked Barbra Streisand for a comment regarding Gov. Jerry Brown’s decision to sell, among other state properties, the 24-acre multiple-home estate Ms. Streisand donated to the State of California and the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy in November, 1993:

“While I had hoped that the Ramirez Canyon property I donated to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy would have been used for a state-of-the-art Environmental Conference and Study Center as was originally intended, I understand Governor Brown’s tough decision given the severe budget shortfalls that California is facing. I only hope that there is little disruption to the residents of Ramirez Canyon through this potential transition and that whatever entity does purchase the land and the homes on it will preserve its special habitat.” —Barbra Streisand, May 28, 2011

If it was a Republican who had made the decision to sell you can bet your ass Babs would be up in arms calling it an attack on the environment. Why do the elite Hollywood liberals continue to be so blatantly obvious. Hypocritical elitists!!!!!!

    1. sco says:

True! True True! Absolute truth Rob! You da man!

    2. greg says:

OMG, as I read your comment I was thinking and going to post the exact same thing.

    3. ginny says:

What are Wednesday’s lotto numbers? You seem to know the future, so it should be easy. Unless, you’re a blow-hard who projects your own values on others… idiot.

    5. Burger Boy says:

Rock n’ roll, Rob, you’re exactly correct. I love it when celebs like Babs are so transparent in their actions & expanations. The ONLY people who buy their explanations are the uneducated liberals.

  2. nora says:

    I so agree with you.

  3. Cruiser says:

IMO she’ s garbage. If it was a Republican, she would be cursing at them for selling the land. I hope she rots in hell.

  4. Ninth Crusade says:

Brown should sell the whole state to Texas. Perry would have it ship shape and productive in no time.

  5. Lenore says:

If it was a republican who made the decision, he would have hidden the sell, then sold it to hisown company for little to nothing so they can then resell the land for a higher profit. And in the meantime he would use the homes to hide his affairs and home their love children.

  6. JAB says:

I think it was the Honest, Truthful, Republican-Arnold Schwarzenegger, that came up with the idea of selling off the State’s property. Republicans are as hypocritical as could be. They remind me of going to church.

  7. Lydia Lozano says:

An earlier story reported that California is closing down its state parks system because of the budget situation. Now they are selling off conservation reserve properties. So, they have given up their state parks and now are sacrificing their environmental principles in order to maintain their illegal aliens in the style to which they’ve become accustomed. Now supporting illegals, schooling their kids kids, providing free health care, etc. trumps all other priorities in California, including environmentalism. It’s come to this.

Hmm.. Welcome to Los “Tijuana” Angeles, soon to be simply Tijuana, California.

  8. Scott says:

Seriously now? Does anyone actually give a damn what this woman ever has to say? If you do then maybe you should get a life! just saying! 😉

  9. Scott says:

I do find it totally hysterical though that we have lefties on here attacking Republicans over extra marital affairs due to arnold! LMAO! 🙂 Talke about the pot calling the kettle black, OMG!

At least Maria is healthy and wasn’t on her death bed, huh? i.e. John Edwards, His wife was dying while he was lying to the American public and the lefties actually wanted this bozo in the WH. Look in the mirror lefties and do not throw stones in glass houses! Just saying! 😉

  10. SHW NO MERCY says:

Totally agree, this would’ve got ugly if JB were republican. Let’ put some oil wells there, “Drill Baby Drill” , we need to stop depending on foreign oil, everything we need, we can produce here. For the Arnold comment he may be Republican, but definetly no conservative, he’s more of a showman, and has no businesses representing The GOP. God Bless our fallen warriors on this Memorial Day weekend.

Good Ol’ Babs takes one for the team.

  12. Ignorant Posters says:

I don’t agree with the PP’s. Barbra Streisand has not shown anything other than class through this. This is donated property, for Pete’s sake. No matter how it is used, the state had an asset it would not otherwise becuase of Barbra.

Why you all feel the need to bash and bring political debate into it, I will never know.

You guys could all use some class.

    1. ginny says:

Yeah, she donated, which I have no doubt got her a real nice tax right off.

  13. racauth says:

Eventually, when California runs out of things to sell, they’re going to have to address reality and face their run away government spending ways? Howz that not enforcing illegal alien laws workin for ya, Californos??

  14. rcNkc says:

    {“….property I donated to the Santa Monica Mountains CONSERVANCY…..”}

Doesn’t CONSERVANCY mean to keep and preserve it!?! And why would
any doofas give land to the state ……….

  15. Chris says:

Brown is about to sell land to foreign investors who will build housing communities and increase the traffic all around and all you people are talking about is BS politics! Sick!

  16. The Old Chip says:

Did this property that the liberal leftist democrat Streisand donated, come from the massive fortune she made under her antagonist; the truly conservative Republican, President Ronald Reagan?

  17. Tgulotta says:

Open land is important and necessary to the eco-systems that surround our urban and suburban boundaries. The selling off of land is extremely concerning to our communities and environment. This was donated land to a Conservancy organization and that sets precedents in legal action. Once an open space is gone it is difficult to reclaim it. Not impossible but the complexities are significant.

  18. SHW NO MERCY says:

@ The Old Chip. Nailed it, nicely put.

  19. Waste Not says:

The governor has made a good decision. Ms Streisand supports that decision. That is probably in part because the state took it saying they would use it for what she asked them to and then just moved some state employees into the swank digs where they have been fo almost 20 years. Now, they are outed for using state property inappropriately and it’s sale could certainly go towards stemming red ink. It doesn’t matter what your political affiliation is: this is a good decision and a good step in the right direction towards unravelling the nightmare of state waste.

  20. stnh says:

Well, Babs, maybe you should have voted Republican. Perhaps you don’t recall, but 30 years ago, when Brown was the governor of California, he left the state in and absolute shambles. His bad, stupid decisions 30 years ago lead us to this place now. And no, the Governator was NOT a Republican, so let’s not go there.
