SoCal Soldier Among 4 US Troops Killed In Afghanistan IED Attack

SAN DIEGO (CBS/AP) — The Pentagon says a 33-year-old Army staff sergeant from the Southland was one of four U.S. soldiers killed in an insurgent attack in Afghanistan.

The Defense Department said Wednesday that Staff Sgt. Kristofferson B. Lorenzo of Chula Vista was part of a unit that was attacked with an improvised explosive device Monday in Kunar province.

Pentagon officials identified the other soldiers as 23-year-old Pvt. Thomas C. Allers of Plainwell, Mich.; 21-year-old Pfc. William S. Blevins of Sardinia, Ohio; and 20-year-old Pvt.Andrew M. Krippner of Garland, Texas.

The four soldiers were part of the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
