Officer Frank Cali says the bodies were discovered shortly after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the Bay Terraces area.

San Diego fire spokesman Maurice Luque tells the San Diego Union-Tribune that firefighters found the bodies of a man, a woman and a girl in the pool and another female in a bathtub in the 100 block of Parkcreek Court.

He says all four appeared to be drowning victims and were pronounced dead at the scene.

After processing the home for evidence and interviewing family members, detectives have determined the deaths are a result of murder and suicide. The motive for the crime has not been determined and the suspect has not been named.

Authorities said all four victims are family members. The family has been identified as, Alfredo Pimienta (44), Georgina Pimienta (38), Priscilla Pimienta (17), and Emily Pimienta (9).

Autopsies will be performed by the Medical Examiner's office.
