Satnam Singh, 49, was driving on Telegraph Road in east Ventura when he first struck a mother and daughter cyclist in the bike lane. He then crashed into an SUV and then hit Nick Haverland on a bike, killing the 20-year-old student.

Nancy Crawford ran to help, but he was already dead and she was there when his parents arrived.

"His mom and dad showed up, and I gave them all a hug," Crawford said. "What else can you say when your child is laying in the road?"

Police found Singh parked nearby, but he refused to get out of the vehicle until a police dog was released.

After being treated for dog bites, Singh is now jailed on suspicion of felony DUI, felony vehicular manslaughter, and felony hit-and-run.
