James Tate just wanted to ask his friend Sonali to the prom in a unique way. So he did-- in 12-inch letters doublestick-taped to the entrance of the school in Bridgeport, CT. Inside a gated fence line. At 3 in the morning. Can you guess where this is going?
Trespassing. Not allowed. Suspended. Banned from prom. James, now a local-TV and internet sensation, denies the school's issue over safety. He swears he wore a helmet , and a friend held the ladder. Doesn't matter, he and his buds ain't going to the prom. (Kids, don't say :"ain't" -Ed.) The sign already has been removed.
The Facebook page "Let James Tate Go to the Prom" is growing exponentially. As I write this, it's gone from 15,600 who like it, to 17,260. By the time you read this, allow me to guarantee it will be more than 50-thou. And what the heck, add to the number, here.
By the way, Sonali said 'yes.' Chicks dig dudes who are rebels. So now James has his date, even if they don't have a place to go. (Photo source: Connecticut Post)
