SAN DIEGO (CBS) — One of the most notorious Islamic terrorist groups in the Middle East is reportedly making a new home just south of the border.

The Shi’a Muslim group Hezbollah is “recognized by many experts as the “A” team of Muslim terrorist organizations,” a former U.S. intelligence official told 10News in San Diego.

Hezbollah’s 1985 manifesto lists “Israel’s final departure from Lebanon as a prelude to its final obliteration” as one of its four main goals, and it has claimed responsibility for attacks against Americans overseas, including the January 15, 2008, bombing of a U.S. Embassy vehicle in Beirut

The terrorist group, whose name in Arabic means “Party of God” derived from Surra 5:56 of the Koran, most recently launched an assault in July 2006 in an attack on Israel with Katyusha rockets and the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers.

But recently, operatives with the group have been using the ongoing violence in the local drug trade to blend in with Muslim communities along the Mexico border, according to the unnamed official.

“They have had clandestine training in how to live in foreign hostile territories,” the agent said.

Hezbollah is reportedly partnering with local drug organizations for cash and protection in exchange for firearms and explosives training, according to the former official, who cited two safe houses in Tijuana and Durango where operatives were apparently living.

“If they really wanted to start blowing stuff up, they could do it,” the agent said.

Border problem? What border problem? It’s just poor people looking for the jobs Americans won’t do.

    1. Saber 1 says:

We were doing those jobs, you bleeding heart left wing nut job. The ILLEGAL ALIEN INVASION drove the hourly wage to the basement. They under cut the pay, no benefits which they rely on welfare or the emergency room and don’t pay, they spread diseases that were eradicated years ago and they wipe the backside and throw it on the floor or in the trash. Go there and try to change them, not us.

Rasheed, your BOY Obama is going down in 2012, in the mean time why don’t you find a closet in your house, lock yourself in it with a firearm, and I’ll pray for you to do ther honorable thing.

Just watch if we aren’t all speaking Arabic with a spanish accent in 20yrs.

This is just fear-mongering. Illegal immigration is down because of the U.S. economy and due to the crackdowns on illegal immigrants already here, so as a result, the border patrol is seeing their funding reduced. What to do? Raise the specter of terrorism at our southern border to inspire fear in U.S. citizens, who will rush to their congresspeople and ask for more $$ for border protection. Then, once the money is allocated in the budget, we won’t hear much more about the alleged Hezbollah operatives. Isn’t it suspicious that this announcement comes just after Osama Bin Laden’s death? Al Qaeda and Islamic terrorism is in the news, so what better time to put a bit of fear into the public and get added funding for the border patrol at the same time?

Hezbollah hasn’t been known for operations on foreign territory; most of their activities have been in Lebanon, either Beirut or southern Lebanon (when the Israelis were occupying the southernmost 20 miles of Lebanon). I’m not saying we should ignore the threat on our southern border, but I’m strongly skeptical of this report.

Yo’ James, I’ve worked the border and along Int. 8 where we’ve found arabic writings on rocks/walls of tunnels under the freeway, books, letters, etc. You know absolutely nothing about what you speak. Stick to details and facts. Not speculation.

If you think about it James you will see that in fact ( HEZBOLLAH ) is fact a crossed the boarder., After all the Mexican Drug Cartels are using Hezbollah kill any one in AZ that so much mentions anything about them., My pal keep’s telling me that THEY the Mexican DRUG CARTEL will send some of those Hezbollah up here into WYOMING to ACE me because I keep talking DIRTY about them., My comment to him is THEY ARE already here in WYOMING; So on July 1, 2011 there WILL be a new GUN LAW here in Wyoming; That gives every Wyoming-er the RIGHT TO CARRY a GUN. I” m SURE there will be a lot off DEAD MEXICAN LORDS up this way.

  7. Lee says:

I was hearing about this a year ago in some of the southern press. This didn’t just pop up overnight. I also have friends along the southern border in AX and TX who say the illegals coming over is as bad a problem as it has ever been.

  8. Lilly says:

They are sticking their hands in the croches of American women and chilren at the airports while leaving the border wide open for Hezbollah and whatever WDM they want to bring into the Nation.

There is no war on terror. There is a war on Americans. We ought to put these treasonous actors on trial.

    1. Randy says:

It’s a war that went all the way to the White House! 10 years from now it will not be the White House but an Oasis tent and a Sharia temple we do a foot treck to bow to or rulers!;-)
