Good News, You Weren't Hit With A Baseball Bat...Bad News, You Were Shot In The Head

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man who thought he had been hit in the head with a bat drove himself to a hospital early Sunday only to find out he had been shot, a police sergeant said.

The shooting took place at about 2 a.m. at Manchester Avenue and Hoover Street occurred about 2 a.m., the Los Angeles police watch commander at Southeast Station said.

The victim, who is expected to be OK, told police he was sitting in his car when he was attacked. He immediately stepped on the gas.

He told doctors he thought he had been hit with a bat, but they found a bullet wound.
