Summerlike Weather To Continue Through Next Week

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An offshore breeze will promote a warm, clear weekend with highs ranging from the 70s at the beaches to about 90 in the valleys and inland areas.

Heavy winds raked local mountains at sunrise Saturday, with gusts of 56 miles per hour reported in Malibu and 64 mph near Mount Wilson. It was warm at the beaches, but cold in the mountains.

Windy conditions were expected near the mountains with north winds blowing at 15-25 mph, according to the National Weather Service. By late afternoon, the winds are expected to shift to an onshore pattern and start blowing out of the west.

Sunday will be breezy and slightly warmer with beach highs topping out in the upper 70s and inland highs in the mid 90s. Though it will be warm, ocean temperatures will be relatively cool -- around 60 degrees with breakers rolling in at 3-5 feet.

The warm weather will continue into through much of the work week with some cooling expected by Thursday.
