HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Joe Mantegna will receive the 2,438th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Friday, honoring a career filled with memorable performances in theater, movies and television.

Playwright David Mamet and Lt. General Willie Williams will join Mantegna in speaking in the late-morning ceremony along Hollywood Boulevard.

Mantegna will receive his star in the category of live theater. He won a Tony Award in 1984 for best featured actor in a play for his role as cynical real estate agent Richard Roma in Mamet’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Glengarry Glen Ross.”

Mantegna also starred in Mamet’s “Speed the Plow” on Broadway.

Mantegna has starred on the CBS crime drama “Criminal Minds” since 2007. He also has a recurring role on the Fox animated comedy “The Simpsons” as the mobster Fat Tony.

Mantegna’s other television series credits include “Joan of Arcadia” and the short-lived Supreme Court drama “First Monday.”

Mantegna has three Emmy nominations for his work in made-for-television movies or miniseries “The Last Don,” “The Rat Pack” and “The Starter Wife.”

Mantegna made his feature film debut in 1985 in “Compromising Positions.” His early films include co-starring roles in “The Money Pit,” “Weeds” and “Suspect.”

Mantegna’s other film credits include “Alice,” “Celebrity,” “The Godfather Part III,” “Liberty Heights,” “Bugsy,” “Searching for Bobby Fisher,” “Forget Paris,” “Up Close and Personal,” “Baby’s Day Out,” “Airheads,” “Queens Logic,” “Wait Until Spring,” “Bandini,” “Eye for an Eye,” “The Runner” and “Thinner.”

    You forgot he also does amazing work as a voice actor for audio books. I always look for him when i get my audio books because I love his voice. In addition to his acting as well. Of course….not bad to look at either.
