Westlake Village Veterinarian Helps Heal Abused Animals

WESTLAKE VILLAGE (CBS) — Meet Nate. He's a Chihuahua mix that walks with the help of this cart after he was abused and his spine was broken.

Dr. Daniel Slaton, a veterinarian based in Westlake Village, helps heal injured animals like Nate free of charge so they can be adopted to a loving home.

Slaton feels that by giving away free exams and discounted medical procedures, he is encouraging people to rescue pets and save them being euthanized.

Kelli Hopper, who founded SAFE animal rescue, works on finding pets homes after they've been treated by Dr. Slaton.

Slaton donates approximately $30,000 in free vet care every month at Westlake Village Animal Hospital.
