Co-Conspirator To Testify Against Upland Mayor In Plea Deal
RIVERSIDE (AP) — A man named as a co-conspirator in the corruption case against former Upland Mayor John Pomierski has agreed to testify against him in a plea deal.
Thirty-eight-year-old Jason Roy Crebs of Upland earlier pleaded not guilty to bribery. In federal court in Riverside Monday, the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin says he changed his plea to guilty and agreed to testify against Pomierski.
Crebs was co-owner of Venture West Capital. Prosecutors allege he and his partner aided and abetted the demand and receipt of bribes.
The 56-year-old Pomierski and another city official were indicted in March on charges of taking bribes from local businesses, conspiracy, extortion and making false statements to the FBI.
Pomierski resigned before he was indicted.
Upland is in San Bernardino County, about 40 miles east of Los Angeles.
