Skydivers Involved In Deadly Collision Near Perris Airport Identified

PERRIS (CBS) — Authorities Saturday identified the two skydivers involved in a fatal accident near Perris Valley Airport, just two weeks after another pair of skydivers were killed there.

One of the men was killed, the other is in critical condition.

The two men were identified as Jacob Jensen, 31, and Turci Yuri, 34 -- one of whom is from Italy and the other from Denmark -- according to sheriff's deputies. It was unclear which one died. The survivor was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center.

The death occurred 15 days after two instructors from the school were killed when they became intertwined and plummeted 400 feet to the ground. Jensen and Yurci were reportedly about 200 feet off the ground when their parachutes got tangled.

Today, a memorial to honor Pat McGowan, 42, of Menifee, and Christopher David Stasky, 42, of San Diego, who died March 31, is planned. Skydivers plan to scatter McGowan's ashes and spell out his name in formation during "an ash dive."

The Perris airport logs about 150,000 jumps per year. Over the past decade, at least 12 people have died in skydiving accidents there, The Press- Enterprise reported.
